Turkey Tales - Meet Outdoor Gazette Columnist, Brett Ladeau

Hi, my name is Brett Ladeau, I live in Hartland, Vermont with my wife and kids.  I’ve been around hunting all my life and harvested my first deer in 1980 at age 12.  It wasn’t until 1997 that I decided to give turkey hunting a try.  I got my first bird that spring and have been hooked since.  Something about that gobble drives me crazy in a good way, well in my opinion in a good way, just don’t ask my wife her opinion.  The addiction grows stronger every year and I love sharing it with as many people as possible.  I am currently the Vermont State Chapter President of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), current local chapter President of the Upper Valley Longbeards based in White River Junction, and a certified hunter safety instructor in the state of Vermont.  It’s safe to say that hunting and specifically turkey hunting is on my mind 365 days a year.  I love passing on the hunting tradition and trading stories with fellow hunters.

The Maine Traditional Archers was formed in 1998 by people with a common passion for traditional archery and the outdoors. Our events are held at the Durham Rod and Gun Club in Durham, Maine and we hold 4 shoots per year; a spring shoot, a winter shoot, a rendezvous in July and we host the Maine State Traditional Championship shoot in August. Our  events are always open to the public, and we welcome anyone who shoots or who would like to shoot a traditional bow! We hope to see you at our next event!
